I am Emmeline Bywater, a graphite artist creating realistic drawings inspired by the people and world around me.

I have been dancing since the age of three, and years of training and performing have shaped the way I see movement. It has deepened my appreciation for its beauty, emotion, and the dedication behind it. My experience as a professional dancer has also given me a unique perspective on the human body and the intricacies of form. Through art, I can slow movement down and appreciate the details that are often missed in performance.

My art did not come after dance. It grew alongside it.

Growing up, art was both an escape and a reflection. It allowed me to sit still while continuing to appreciate and explore the movements I challenged my body to perform. Where dance gave me a way to express, push, and move, art gave me a way to slow down, observe, and reflect.

Through my drawings, I capture both the emotion and the dedication behind each figure. Whether they are caught in motion or stillness, I hope each piece encourages a moment of reflection. It is a celebration of discipline, expression, and the beauty that can be found in both movement and stillness.

Dance has taught me how to move through the world. Art has taught me how to pause and truly see it.
